Sunday School – Sundays at 9:30am
Youth Sunday School is for 6th – 12th graders and meets on the second floor of the middle section of the church. Led by Pastor Lora, the focus is on relevant, applicable faith. We start by sharing one thing in our lives that week that is both new and good, then have the lesson, and close in prayer together.
In the fall, we read through the book of Mark together asking ourselves what the scripture taught us about God and ourselves, and then what was God calling us to do / how was God calling us to be in the text.
This semester we are currently looking at popular music and finding the theme, looking at scripture that applies to that topic, and talking about how our faith relates.
Youth Group meets once a month in Fellowship Hall from 6:30-8:00pm with Pastor Lora and sponsors to learn about God together in a relaxed, fun environment. We have dinner together, activities, lessons, and opportunities to be missional. This is a great place to bring friends and have fun!
Spring Dates for Youth Group:
Throughout the year, we take various trips in line with the United Methodist Conference. In January we attend The One Event, a conference for Kansas and Nebraska United Methodist Youth. In the spring and fall, we often visit Camp Horizon in Arkansas City for a day trip.
We organize our youth spiritual formation work to include opportunities for service and outreach. From painting the picnic table in our park to promote neighboring to sending cards to our homebound members to serving communion in worship, the youth are learning that our faith in Christ leads us beyond ourselves.
Our youth bell choir practices on Friday afternoons at 3:45pm with their leader, Kathy Baker. Kathy has years of experience teaching children and youth bells in New York and started the youth bell choir in January 2018.
