Parking Lot Has Slick Spots
If you come by Grace today or tonight for choir, watch your step. We are
really grateful to Gottlob for clearing our sidewalks and parking lot, but
there are still some slick spots out there. Use your best judgment and go
slowly. Choirs are planning to practice tonight and it looks like this
afternoon will warm up and the sun will shine! This Sunday we will hear a message from Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount about Salt & Light. Jamie
Hibbs will give the Glimpse of Grace. The choir will sing and the Grace
Ringers will be playing “It Is Well With My Soul.” We will also have a
special prayer for General Conference.
A display will be up this Sunday (since it was icy last week) from the
Tharps and Rangers in the Welcome Center sharing about the time
Winfield took a choir to Mount Carmel and sang Elijah. Be sure to check it out!
Special General Conference on LGBTQ Inclusion
The Special Session of General Conference of the United Methodist
Church begins on Saturday in St. Louis in regards to the ordination and marriage of LGBTQ people in the UMC.
There is a really helpful guide that can be found here that outlines the
schedule, what will happen each day, places to read further, and
livestream the proceedings, etc.
Pastor Lora will offer a summary of what is decided in next week’s Grace Notes. This Sunday in worship, we will have a special time of prayer for
General Conference and all who are impacted.
We know General Conference will impact our congregation and
denomination no matter what is decided this week, and we pray that the Holy Spirit guides the work of the church. We hold the bishops, delegates (including last year’s student pastor, Shayla Jordan), denomination, and
LGBTQ people who are most directly impacted by this decision in our
