Practicing Resurrection

This Sunday we will be discussing “Living Renewal” in Ephesians 4. We will celebrate Holy Communion together. The choir will sing both an anthem and during Communion. We will also recognize our college interns and graduating college seniors (can you believe it’s already that time of year?) We are so grateful for the work Felix Aguayo, Raquel Resendiz, and Shayla Jordan have put in this past year (and for Raquel the past three years!) As their time as interns comes to a close this week, we have a chance to celebrate their ministry and thank them for their work. See you Sunday!

Pizza Party-May 7th

Come hang out and de-stress during Finals Week in the Grace UMC parking lot! Grace will provide pizza. Discipleship is providing ice cream. Gaming club will have outdoor games. Hammocking club will have a couple of hammocks set up and a prize drawing at 8:30am. There will also be sidewalk chalk and neighborhood dogs to play with! Don’t leave without grabbing a finals goodie bag! You won’t want to miss this opportunity to relax and recharge during a stressful week!

Grace Folks who aren’t students: Come and spend some time with some students! Help with pizza or play games. Connect with your foster student or someone in College SS.

Next Round of Neighboring: Church Neighborhood Focused!

The Neighbor Team Leaders invite you to consider being a part of one of the two groups forming for Lab 3 of Neighbor Groups. This round will focus on the church’s neighbors and neighborhood: College Hill. We will discern together and research the assets in our neighborhood and work to connect our neighbors with one another. Roger Moon & Joy Lenz will teach a group during Sunday School in the basement beginning May 20(this will include New Beginnings and Covenant Sunday School classes). Pastor Lora & Sparla Dick will teach a group on Monday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm beginning May 14. The group will last six weeks and focus on the categories shown in the picture. Email the office or contact one of the group leaders to sign up!

Why We Neighbor

Check out this NPR article “Americans are a Lonely Lot and Young People Bear the Heaviest Burden.” It shares the 56% of people don’t feel “with” the people close to them. When we think about the work of Neighboring, it’s not hard to understand why! This is why our church has named and claimed neighboring as part of our identity. How is God calling you to love you neighbors?

District Confirmation Camp

Wichita East and West Districts are joining together to offer Confirmation Camp May 29 – June 2 at Southwestern College. The cost is $210 and meals will be provided by district churches and hosted by our church. If your rising 7th-9th grade is interested, please contact Pastor Lora. If you are willing to sponsor a scholarship for one of our youth to go, contact Lora as well. It is an amazing opportunity to do Confirmation with the connection. Lora is part of the planning team and can vouch for its vitality! If students older than rising in 9th grade are interested, we are working on creating an alternative program for high schoolers who have yet to be confirmed!

Your Name Tag Misses You!

Greetings from your name tag! I miss you wearing me on Sunday mornings. When we are together we get to bring the church together, welcome new people, and provide a sense of belonging in the congregation. Will you find me on Sunday again? Can we remind others to wear theirs too? Welcoming Team will love us for it 🙂 Can’t wait to see you! -Your Name Tag
(PS – If you can’t find me or don’t have a name tag yet, ask the office for a new one!)
