James Leland

Before becoming organist at Grace in 2005 I was a professor at Hollins College in Virginia, where for thirty-four years I taught music and conducted the choir. A graduate of Oberlin College, I earned master’s and doctoral degrees from Northwestern University and also spent a year each at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the State Music Academy in Berlin. More recently I held fellowships at Yale and Edinburgh. I love Winfield and am very grateful to people at Grace church who are extraordinarily warm and encouraging.
